Codex Astartes and Gryphonne IV Skitarii Legion 2.1

<![CDATA[TEMPLATE FOR LAY OUT]]>Well we manage game of epic…. It was 4000 point per side and it was between Codex Astartes and Gryphonne IV Skitarii Legion 2.1…

So we both went off and chose our forces and built our list. I decided to take Markconz Gryphonne IV Skitarii Legion list for another test run and same points cost on the CLP&QC combo.… Trent built his list Codex Astartes as below. Then we swap armies…

First thing I said was…not much deploying on the table, is there? and 3 BTS formations…. love it..

Summary

Well the plan was to wait till turn 3 and drop the terminators in, since I was hoping he would be charging forward and start to claim objectives and ground by turn 2. That way he thin him self out a bit, so that I could pick on the BTS easier. Although he decided to hunker down and wait for the terminators, which made it far more fun, since he had more chances of setting up his Defense.

As it turned out, I manage to get into his back yard and had enough space to place small formations, in his blind zones or where he could get little or no befit from over watch fire..There was couple of time he chose not to shoot since, it was not worth it..His argument is that, would have place a BM and may have kill a guy if lucky. He would rather have full effect and was waiting for me to move the formations later in the game once the formation were place on the table. Out all of the combats in turn three, the BM would have made no difference to the out come..

He was also not help, by some of his activation die rolls either, it didn't help, with me placing BM’s on formations from the air, out side his AA range..I also target the three units that could reach my two formation on the table from far and manage to basically keep them quiet most of the game and later in the game, gave him other targets, like three BTS…Smile

I was playing safe the first turn or two with the aircraft, but a 6+AA shot, is nothing to be overly scared of..He did manage to fire about 25+ shots off for the whole game, since there was no way of total not flying into it, but I manage to cut number shots fire at me and manage to close some of it down, but he only manage three hits and only one of those turned into a damage…

Other things

The game was to test the CLP at 100 points with the Two QC..We both think it’s not worth that, but will add it will depend on want race you are facing and list builds… Case in point, todays game, Air heavy…I think also corner deployment will play apart in that and table terrain setup too. A long with player skill level..

Our thoughts on the matter at this point in time, are as follows and from more then one direction i guess…

1) Is to cap the CLP at 50 points and look at increase the Quake Cannon by 25 points for the Skitarii Legion, if people or games prove that the CLP/QC combo is showing it should be 600 points..This still effects the aploc barrage missile, but not as badly as 100 points…

2) Change the hellfire missile stats(points increase too) so that it makes, the player look and think about using it, when compering it to the CLP/QC combo..

3) ORDINATUS MAJORUS could be given a initiative rating1+ and points increase..

Just our 2 cents worth..We will look a few more games as time permits, although I'm tempted to do 4000 again and throw in a Reaver..just to see the results..
