Knights vs Eldar at Hell's Kitchen.

 

Well its Friday again and we manage another 5000 points aside battle…Couple of things

  • The Biel-Tan Craftworld was done by Frosthammer, so a interesting list..
  • The Knights list was deployed by my second youngest and I deployed the Biel-Tan Craftworld force…..
  • Britt played the Biel-Tan Craftworld and I played the Knights…..

Few words from the Biel-Tan Craftworld commander.

Greg & I had a very intense and enjoyable game of Epic this morning at his place. He used 5000 points of Knight Worlders against my 5000 points of Eldar. As usual, see his AAR for all the gory details and nice photos. It was very close, my Eldar being defeated by only one point. I take comfort from the saying of Fredrick the Great that “There’s no dishonour from losing a hard fought battle, but there’s no excuse for being surprised.” Well, I wasn’t surprised…but doing something about what was coming, there’s another story! Winking smile

   Anyway, some of the more memorable moments from the Eldar side of things would be:

  • After familiarizing myself with the Eldar list, which was a tough little nut indeed, we noticed the Knightworlders had many units of Castilians. I always ask Greg to point them out for me. I hate them and make it a point to kill them first whenever possible. These turned out to be more numerous but not as tough as usual, but still nasty to face.
  • Greg had made up some nice new buildings and the black ash terrain sported these amid ‘alien’ forests and hills. Hell’s Kitchen indeed.
  • As I said, Castilians are a priority, so they got a dose of Void Spinners Artillery right off.
  • Going for the throat, my Vampire Raider with its cargo of Fire Dragons headed for the back right corner where a Castilian and 2 other Knight units had suffered under the barrage. The firefight was on! At the end of the first round (we both rolled miserably!) it was a tie, but the second round saw Knights victory with several routing Knight units. Glorious Smile
  • The Eldar Head Honcho came through the portal with his Shining Spears and eventually hit the last unhurt Knight unit on my right.  The left just held, or got bombarded by numerous Knight Artillery.
  • Nightwings would eventually polish off one unit of Castilians, but take damage from enemy fighters.
  • Knights continued to move up everywhere. My most valuable unit, with Falcons and infantry, hardly moved all game. It just sat their collecting blast markers from being shot at or failing to activate. My big bullet magnet. Sad smile
  • I might add that both Greg & I had exceptionally poor dice rolls all game. Getting a 4 was a big deal!
  • The Knights march on. While I held the right, the Knights eventually eliminated the Scouts and Titans that secured my left.
  • I made a last desperate try to keep the Knights from getting ‘Defend the Flag’ with 2 Fire Prisms removing the Knights protecting a marker and moving to his side. They were routed by some squires , and that was that.
  • All in all, a great game and lots of fun. Thanks for organizing it up Greg!

Turn 1

  • Biel-Tan Craftworld go first…
  • BTC shoot the Void Spinner unit in the ruins on their right flank…and target the Custodians 1, manages to clip a errant 1 unit and paladin 1 unit. So all units receive 2 BM’s each…
  • BTC retains the turn and shoot the Void Spinner unit in the woods near the Blitz objective and targets the Custodians 3, manages to clip the Paladin 2 unit, each unit receives 4BM’s each….
  • MKW open fire with the Trebuchets in the woods near the blitz objective and target the 8 Falcon&8 Howling Banshee unit, killing one of the warriors and adding 3 BM’s in total…
  • MKW retain the turn and use the other Trebuchets on the hill on their right flank and target the Fire Prism unit, and manage to kill one of the vehicles, so 3BM’s in total…
  • BTC then double move the other Fire Prism unit on their right flank and target the Errant 1 unit and manage to kill one of the W/E…
  • MKW then double move a Custodians 2 unit up and targets the Fire Prism unit, that just shot. Killing three of the Vehicles…Which breaks the unit and it flees back to its deployment zone…
  • BTC do a engage action with the vampire and so it deploys within 15cm, and targets the Errants 1 and manages to drag in the Paladins 1 and Custodians 1. The Fire dragons also lead their weight…After two rounds of combat the Knights win the combat, so the vampire is destroyed and the fire dragons flee to be on a side of a hill… All three knights units were broken due to enough kills on them, so that that they broken once the extra BM’s were added…
  • BTC retains the turn and brings on through the WRAITHGATE the shinning spears unit and move it, so that's its between the ruins on the hill…
  • MKW then double move a Custodians 4 unit up so that it can target the broken fire dragons on the hill. The unit is wiped out due to enough hits begin done..
  • BTC then try and active the 8 Falcon&8 Howling Banshee unit, and rolled a one, so use the SC reroll and roll a one….and so move up…
  • MKW the double move Errants 2 unit on their right flank into the woods that has the objective marker in it…
  • BTC then do a marshalling action with their fire Prism unit on the left flank and so move it up and remove all the BM’s….
  • MKW then try and active Paladin 3 unit and roll a one, so the units is move up behind the woods in front of it…
  • BTC bring in their first NIGHTWINGS unit and target the broken Custodians 1and manage to kill one of the W/E…
  • MKW double move Paladin 2, up the right flank so it behind the ruins ….
  • BTC bring in their second NIGHTWINGS unit and target the broken Custodians 1and manage to kill the last W/E..(BTS).
  • MKW then bring on the first Thunder Bolt unit and target the NIGHTWINGS, and manage to add a BM…
  • BTC then move the REVENANT TITANS up behind the scouts and targets the Errants 2 unit in the forest, and manage to kill two of them.
  • MKW the do a marshalling action with the Custodians 3 unit, and so move up 15cm and then manage to remove 1 BM….
  • MKW then bring on the second Thunder Bolt unit and target the scouts. Placing a BM on the unit…
  • MKW the retain the turn and do a engage action with the squires 2 unit and target the scouts,.. the scouts get to do overwatch and manage to kill one of the squires… So the FF begins and the scout don't hit, neither do the squires, so after working out the plus etc. the scouts won…and wipe the squire unit off the board….
  • MKW put squire 1 unit  on  overwatch, near the objective marker on their left flank.
  • MKW then place squire 3 unit on overwatch, near the Blitz  objective marker.
  • BTC don't rally the Fire Prism unit..MKW don't rally Paladins 1 unit, both sides remove blast markers…

Turn 2

  • Biel-Tan Craftworld go first…
  • BTC do a engage action with the shinning spears and target the Custodians 2 unit, after the smoke clears the Custodians 2 unit is wipe out, and the shinning spears make a full move back to be between the ruins again…
  • BTC then try and active the 8 Falcon&8 Howling Banshee unit, and rolled a one, so use the SC reroll and roll a one….and so move around a bit(oh I love it when this happens)…..
  • MKW open fire with the Trebuchets in the woods near the blitz objective and target the shinning spears and manage to kill two of the warriors and adding BM’s…
  • MKW retain the turn and double move a Custodians 4 unit up and it targets the 8 Falcon&8 Howling Banshee unit, and it manages to kill one warrior and add BM’s.
  • BTC shoot the Void Spinner unit in the ruins on their right flank…and target the broken Paladin unit and manage to kill one of the W/E…..
  • MKW then double move the Errant 1 unit up and target the shinning spears and manage to only give it a BM, for the trouble…
  • BTC then do sustain fire with the REVENANT TITANS and target the Errant 2 unit in the forest and manage to wipe them out….
  • MKW then open fire with the Trebuchets on the hill on their right flank and target the REVENANT TITANS, causing a hit on one of them and this gives then a total of three BM’s..
  • BTC bring in their first NIGHTWINGS unit and target the broken Paladin 1 unit, and manage to kill all of the W/E.. so wiping the unit off the table..
  • MKW then do marshalling action with the Custodians 3 unit, so shoot at the REVENANT TITANS, giving them a Blast Marker and the Custodians 3 unit, manage to remove 2 BM’s..
  • BTC then open fire with the Void Spinner unit in the woods near the Blitz objective and targets Paladins 2 unit, placing 3M’s on the unit..they also manage to kill one…
  • MKW double move Paladin 3 unit up through the woods and shoots the REVENANT TITANS, adding a blast marker.. which manage to break the unit…
  • BTC then move the Fire Prism unit and target Paladin 3 unit in the woods, killing one of them and giving the unit three BM’s
  • MKW then try and active Paladin 2 unit and roll a one and so shot the scouts, killing one and so giving them 2 BM’s…
  • BTC try and bring on their other NIGHTWINGS unit and fail to do so and so it remove the BM’S it has…(no picture)
  • MKW keep the Squire three unit on overwatch near the blitz objective marker..
  • BTC then do a marshalling action with the scouts, moving the scouts closer together and manage to remove two BM’s..
  • MKW keep the Squire two on overwatch near the objective marker, near the forest..
  • MKW bring on first of the Thunder Blot squads on and targets the broken REVENANT TITANS unit, managing to kill one of the W/E…..
  • MKW brings on the second Thunder Blot squads on and targets the broken REVENANT TITANS unit, managing to kill the last W/e and so wipes the unit off the table..
  • Both sides rally units, both side remove Blast Markers…

Turn 3

  • Biel-Tan Craftworld go first…
  • BTC do a engage action and target the Errants in front of them, when the smoke clears the errants are killed to a man..
  • BTC try and retain the turn and rolls a one, so the Void Spinner looked pretty….
  • MKW shoot with the Custodians 3 and target the scouts, managing to kill two of them and breaking the unit…
  • MKW retain the turn and target the Fire Prisms with the Paladin 3 unit, and manage to kill three of them and breaks the unit…
  • BTC open fire with the Void Spinners in the Ruins and target the Custodians 4 and manage to place two BM’s on them…
  • MKW try and shoot with the Trebuchets and rolls a one… so looks pretty in the woods…
  • BTC  Then try and active the 8 Falcon&8 Howling Banshee unit, and rolled a one, so use the SC reroll and roll a one…So shoots the squire 1 unit managing to kill one and break the unit…so it flees back out of site..
  • MKW open fire with the Trebuchets on the hill on their right flank and target the broken scout unit, managing to wipe the unit off the table(no picture)
  • BTC bring in the NIGHTWINGS unit and target the Custodians 4 and manage to Kill two of them, which breaks the unit…and so it flees back to it deployment zone…
  • MKW then move up the Paladin 2 unit up the right flank to capture the objective marker and be in the opponents half of the table…
  • BTC try and bring in their other NIGHTWINGS unit and fail to do so…
  • MKW try and bring in their other Thunderbolt unit and fail to do so…….
  • BTC then double move Fire Prism unit so that its within 15cms of the objective in the MKW side of the table..
  • MKW try and bring in their other Thunderbolt unit and fail to do so…….
  • MKW then double move the squire 3 unit up so that it was 10cms and fires on the Fire Prisms, managing to add a BM and causing the unit to break…
