Emperor's Children (4.0) Vs CODEX IRON HANDS ARMY LIST V1.11

Well it Tuesday and we manage another game of epic. It was 3000 point per side and it was between CODEX IRON HANDS ARMY LIST V1.11 and Emperor's Children (4.0)

Britt and I played the Emperor's Children (4.0) and Trent played CODEX IRON HANDS ARMY LIST V1.11

THE PLAN

  • EMPEROR'S CHILDREN: Survive the bloody drop pod assault. The over all plan was to take blitz with the Terminators and then claim the objective markers with the fast moving units.. of course the IH were going to be the fly in the orpiment..
  • IRON HANDS: Our internal spy failed to report back on want the plan was for the IRON HANDS and so we will have to wait and see..

Turn 1

  • EMPEROR'S CHILDREN teleport in the TERMINATORS(BM for fail TPR) and put it near the Whirlwinds(Photo1)

  • The dice are rolled for the SR and the IRON HANDS go first.
  • IRON HANDS Strike Cruiser turns up(oh joy)(Photo1) and does it orbital bombardment, hitting the QUESTOR TITAN and getting the ARMOURED COMPANY.The QUESTOR TITAN getting a BM and the ARMOURED COMPANY getting three all up(2 kills)(Photo2)

  • The Strike Cruiser continuing activation with drops zones……
  • Drop zone one is Dreadnought Talon  and lands on the left side of the Hill were, the Blitz is(Photo1)

  • IRON HANDS retain the turn and do a engage action with the Dreadnought Talon(Support from 2 x Dreadnought Talon) and targets the RETINUE(Photo1).The dice are rolled and the Dreadnought Talon(BM) wins the combat and the RETINUE is wiped from the board(Photo2) and the Dreadnought Talon(BM) consolidates 5 cms towards the Blitz(Photo3)

  • EMPEROR'S CHILDREN do a engage action with the TERMINATORS(summoning 6 Daemons) and target the whirlwind battery(Photo1).The dice are rolled and the TERMINATORS win the combat and the whirlwind battery is wiped from the board(Photo2) and the TERMINATORS consolidate on the hill top(Photo3)

  • EMPEROR'S CHILDREN fail to activate the QUESTOR TITAN and so move it to claim objective marker(Photo1)

  • IRON HANDS do a engage action with Iron Hands Clan use the commander ability and bring in a Dreadnought Talon and target the ARMOURED COMPANY and calls intermingled and drags in the 2 X RETINUE’s(Photo1).The dice are rolled and the ARMOURED COMPANY& 2 X RETINUE’s, wins the combat. The Iron Hands Clan is wiped from the board and the Dreadnought Talon is broken(Photo2).The ARMOURED COMPANY is broken, due to BM’s and flees towards objective marker.The Dreadnought Talon flees forward and the 2 X RETINUE’s, consolidate 5 cms(Photo3)

  • IRON HANDS march move the assault onto the hill top in the middle of the table(Photo1)

  • EMPEROR'S CHILDREN do a double move action with the chosen in the swamps and place it to claim objective marker and the other to slow down the advancing Dreadnought(Photo1)

  • IRON HANDS double move Dreadnought Talon(Photo1), and shoot chosen, Killing 2 and breaking the formation, which flees back into the swamp(Photo2)

  • EMPEROR'S CHILDREN do a engage action with the RETINUE(SC) and uses the commander ability and brings in the other RETINUE and targets the Broken Dreadnought Talon(Photo1).The dice are rolled and the 2 X RETINUE wins the combat and the broken Dreadnought Talon are wiped from the board(Failed armour saves)(Photo2).

Notes: Well that was interesting turn, I through we would have lost more, but was lucky in that the Irons hands dropped into one corner. The plan still to grab and hold objectives with fast formation and try,and remove any of the IH fast formation on the board..

Turn 2

  • The dice are rolled for the SR and the EMPEROR'S CHILDREN go first.
  • EMPEROR'S CHILDREN sustain fire with the QUESTOR TITAN(Photo1) and shoots the Assault formation, on the hill, killing 1 and giving the formation 2 BM’s(Photo1).. The idea here was to remove the IH fastest moving unit on the table..

  • EMPEROR'S CHILDREN do a marshalling order with the QUESTOR TITAN, so shoot the Dreadnought Talon, killing 1 and giving the formation 2 BM’s.Then the QUESTOR TITAN, removes all BM’s(Photo1)

Notes: Well we are slow getting to the point were I think that we can achieve our aims, but we need to put a spanner in the works for the IH, since they have the same number of points… so the plan is now tweak and that's is to deny or break one of the Dreadnought Talon, that is holding a objective marker…

Summary
 
That was a fun and interesting game, and it could have gone to turn 4… As a side note this is game two..Game one was quick in that the Strike cruiser came on and then found out he was 55 cm’s to long on dropping his load and so all the drops sites were off the board… the first wave had a few hundred mile to walk back to the battle field…
