Second NAW BATTLE REPORT

 

The force used

The following is the break down of the forces, Well it will be the following:

Terrain setup

There were hills on both sides, with a river running down the middle of the field. The Bridge was about in the middle of the river. There a few forest here and there. There was also impassable terrain on top of the hills.

Setup of the forces

The French force setup the following way, the river dividing the force, so on the left side was the following(both sides setup 12 inches in from table edge)

BATTLE REPORT:

The French won the invited and made the Russians go first. So the first turn all force advance for the Russian, the only units that didn't were the 6,12 pdr batteries. The French moved all of their units.So there was no shooting or melee that turn. So the start of a new turn and the Russians went first again. So they deployed some units in line and had others move back, across the front. The French kept advancing. The 12pdr battery shoots lots of smoke and nothing else, there was musket fire and few skirmishers' die. So new turn and the Russians keep falling back and the French keep advancing. the shooting phase is more effective since now bases are starting to be taken off. The first melee round went to the French on the right flank(we will look at the right flank from here on) were they won both combats, Russians could not bring muskets to shoot since they were to scared by the French noise when they charged. The Russian command need to pass a valour test and failed so the that command left the field. The next turn the Jager turn the flank of the French on the right side of the river and push forward to take advantage of it, even tho they had lost the line command. There were a couple of turns shooting and both side took casuals , but the jager manage to charge the guns and then pass their élan test and destroy the unit. Another unit of jager charged the line infantry in the forest and the French didn’t shoot (may be see the guns destroyed, meant they lost heart) and they destroyed that unit too. Not all the combat were the Russians way the 12pdr batery was charged in the flank and the crew, left their guns and moved to a jager unit. At this point the French need to pass a valour test and failed and they left the field. The battle on the left side was little more flowing for both sides. The 6 pdr battery for the whole game fired twice and that was at a unit that was in the forest in front of them for just about the whole game, who will go home with a full unit in tacked(think they lost one skirmish stand). The French push their changes home and the Russians could not fire. The French won one and on the other one the Russian fort back and took three base, which was enough to take the unit below strength and have it taken off the table. The next turn the French pushed home and charge again and won the melee. On the last turn the French were charged from the back and were taken below half strength and that forces a morale test on the left side, they failed and were forces to leave the field.

The above is from my head and i guess we did thing wrong and there was no scenario again since, we are still trying to get to grits with the rules. We will be doing N@W again in a fortnight and will be adding cavalry.
