BLACK TEMPLARS 4.1 V’s Ghazgkhull Thraka's War Horde (NetEA Tournament Pack 2013)

 

Well Tuesday been and gone and so we manage another game of epic. As always it was 4000 points per side and it was BLACK TEMPLARS 4.1 V’s Ghazgkhull Thraka's War Horde. This is the first of 6 games with the Black Templars, since I was offered a pack/deal by the AC. So yeah all going well he will be doing 6 games using the Iyanden List…Anyways I'm looking forward to helping a another list over the line….

Few words from the other Ork commander:

Greg, Trent, & I(Britt) had a very hard fought and unusual game of Epic Armageddon tonight. It was unusual because both sides brought so much air power to the party. Trent commanded the Black Templars while Greg took the Orks on the city side of the river and I the wooded side. The river levee blocked LOS except at road or ford, and river crossing vehicles moved at half speed except there.
   For me, some of the more memorable moments were:
   * The huge aerial fur ball on my right flank as at least 3 Ork Fighter skwadrons and a Imperial fought over a flanking group of Templars. Yellow Pom Poms everywhere from Ground and aircraft AA.
   * After the above, we got on to the actual ground attack, which was narrowly won by the Orks there.
   * The surprise landing of the Templars to take the Ork Blitz.
   * The audacity of 2 Templars as they entered the woods near the Orks 'ugh Horde, precipitating a fight which the cheeky bas*****s almost won. Our Ork Warlord was with them. Had we lost, he'd been embarrassed for life!
   * The struggle over the city between Land Speeders and bikes. Lots of air attacks as well. Had Gregs last Landa attack succeeded, he'd have captured it.
   * Ork horde Nobz Big Shootas killing off the last of the Templars BTS unit.
   *All the dead Ork aircraft. For that matter, not many Grotz survived the battle either.
An excellent game guys. Thanks for coming out. It was a lot of fun, laughs, and excitement as usual!

The AA and do fighting is worked out and all units take a BM(Photo2). The Landa&KULT OF SPEED then do their engagement with the Predator unit(Photo3). The dice are rolled and the Predator unit lose the combat and is broken(Photo4). The lone hunter flees behind woods(Photo5) and the KULT OF SPEED get a BM(Photo6)

• Ghazgkhull Thraka's War Horde bring Landa&KULT OF SPEED and target the Land speeder unit in a engagement. They get support from other KULT OF SPEED(Photo1). The dice are rolled and the Landa&KULT OF SPEED win combat, wiping the land speeders off the board(Photo2), but break due to BM’s and flee down beside the city(Photo3)

• Ghazgkhull Thraka's War Horde do engage action with WARBAND ('UGE) and target Crusader unit and call intermingled and bring in the predators(Photo1). The dice are rolled and the WARBAND ('UGE) win combat. the Crusader and Predator units are broken(Photo2). The WARBAND ('UGE) get 6 BM’s.(Photo3) and the Crusader and Predator units flee behind small hill(Photo4)

• Ghazgkhull Thraka's War Horde try's and activates the WARBAND ('UGE) and fails to do so(Photo1)

• BLACK TEMPLARS don’t rally Predator unit, both side remove Blast Markers…

So another round is done and this time the Sword Brethren win. The orks lose the KULT OF SPEED and the warband is broken(Photo3). The Sword Brethren get 3 BM’s due to hits suffered(Photo4) and the Warband flees back over the hill(Photo5)

The dice are rolled and the land speeders win by 1 pip and so the KULT OF SPEED is broken(Photo3) and flee back down the road to be beside the city(Photo4)

• Ghazgkhull Thraka's War Horde double move WARBAND ('UGE)(Photo1), and shoot Broken Sword Brethren unit and manage to kill the unit out right(BTS)(Photo2)

Summary

• Sword Brethren did their job and they feel about right. They were over come by weight of numbers in the end.
• Thunderhawk Transporter unit was a nice addition to game play and it felt about right stat wise. Although using them as CAP, was interesting idea by the BT player.
• Stormtalon unit, well I'm still on the fence on this one. Ok so it basically fighter, but it also could be a skimmer if you read the fluff. So yeah a few more games with it and I may have a opinion……
• The army structure looks ok too….

That was a interesting game. There was a total of 11 fail activations all up, even after using a SC reroll on some. As always It was a lot of fun, laughs, and excitement to play against my regulars…….
